BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After an impressive 45-13 win over in-state rival Huntingdon College in the 10th annual Wesley Cup battle, Birmingham-Southern football saw its offensive line recognized by D3football.com on the organizations Team of the Week.
Austin Lewter (Tanner, Ala./Tanner HS), Derrick Maddox (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Paul W. Bryant HS), Caylor Slivka (Albertville, Ala./Albertville HS), Chris Moore (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood HS), Chandler Pearce (Lakeland, Fla./Lake Gibson HS), and Spencer Scofield (Collierville, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) helped pave the way for BSC to rush for 313 yards, the most the program has seen in a single-game since 2011.
The Panthers offensive averaged eight yards per carry on 39 attempts and pounded into the endzone four times on the ground. Protected in the pocket, quarterback Trevor Oakes (Somerville, Ala./Hartselle HS) threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the win. BSC's offensive line has not allowed a single sack this season.
The Panthers return to action Saturday, Sept. 21 when they travel to face the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. to open Southern Athletic Association play. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
