ATLANTA – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team drew with the Emory Eagles 1-1 on Sunday night, moving to 1-2-1 on the season.
Freshman forward Coleman Jennings (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) opened up the scoring early, finding the back of the net for the Panthers in the 7th minute with help from an assist by Will Gannaway (Decatur, Ala./Decatur HS). The goal was Jennings' second of the season, a team high.
BSC surrendered its 1-0 lead halfway through the first half when Emory (1-2-1) netted the equalizer in the 21st minute.
The Panthers and Eagles took the 1-1 deadlock into halftime and carried it through the final 45 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods.
Emory outshot BSC 25-11 in the game but Panther goalkeeper Kurt Moore (Euharlee, Ga./Darlington School) continually denied the Eagle threat, recording a season-high 11 saves in the match.
Birmingham-Southern will stay on the road for its next match at LeTorneau on Friday, Sept. 13. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
