BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) struck out 11 of the 15 batters she faced en route to a perfect game that helped propel the Birmingham-Southern softball team to a 10-0 rout of Sewanee Friday night. BSC is now 24-13 overall and improved to 11-5 in Southern Athletic Association play with the win.
The no-no was the first of Crumpton's career. She leads the nation with a 21-5 record. The Panthers bats were also on fire, hitting .545 as a team on the night. Kendell Hamm (Adamsville, Ala./Sumitron Christian HS), Kyrstyn Fisher (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee HS), and Abbey Bice (Adamsville, Ala./Sumiton Christian HS) led the pack offensively with two hits each. Hamm and Fisher were a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate, and both earned two runs. Fisher finished with a game-high three RBI after sending her second home run of the season over the left field wall.
BSC's series with the Tigers concludes on Sunday with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
