ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern swimmer Savannah Barber was named the Southern Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Freshman Savannah Barber (St. Petersburg, Fla./Northside Christian HS) competed in six events in a meet against Loyola and Southwestern on Oct. 27-28. Barber placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:58.76. She also added two third-place finishes in the 400-yard IM and the 500-yard freestyle. She placed fifth in the 200-yard IM.
Barber participated in two relay events, as well, helping Birmingham-Southern place second in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard free relay.
The Panthers split in the three-team meet, defeating Southwestern 195-115 but falling to Loyola 208-102.
Barber and the rest of the BSC swimming and diving team's next meet will be on Saturday, Nov. 4 against the Savannah College of Arts and Design.
