Women's Basketball rolls past Oakwood, 90-49

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team won big at home Monday evening, defeating Oakwood University 90-49 in Bill Battle Coliseum to move to 2-4 on the season.

With the exception of the first minute of the game, BSC led the entire time. The Lady Ambassadors opened the game with a three-pointer by Courtney White, and the Panthers proceeded to score 19 straight points to pull ahead 19-3 by the 13:01 mark. BSC maintained a comfortable lead for the rest of the game, leading 47-21 at the half and going up by as much as 44, 84-40, with 4:02 left in the game before winning by 41.

Senior Erin Moore led the Panthers with 15 points on 5-6 shooting, followed by senior Alex Adams with 13 points and senior Melanie Short with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Freshman Amber Cardwell also had 10 points off the bench, and freshman Kelsey Brown led with six assists.

For Oakwood, White led with 13 points and six rebounds, and Christy Harris added 10 points.

BSC shot a season-high .519 (28-54) from the field and was .364 (4-11) from three-point range. The Panthers were .732 (30-41) from the free throw line.

Oakwood shot .267 (16-60) overall, .158 (3-19) from beyond the arc, and .737 (14-19) from the line.

BSC out-rebounded the Ambassadors 44-34 and committed a season-low 16 turnovers to Oakwood's 20.

The Panthers are back in action at home tomorrow night, facing undefeated Auburn-Montgomery at 6 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
