BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was a full team effort on Saturday for the Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team. The Panthers closed out the 2019 BSC McAttack Bash with clean sweeps of both Brevard College and LaGrange College. BSC (4-0) won in straight sets, 3-0, to finish the weekend undefeated in Bill Battle Coliseum.
Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) and Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) continued to lead the offense. The pair finished with a team-high 12 kills each in just four sets a piece. Reilly Vought (Spanish Fort, Ala./Spanish Fort HS) and Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) combined for 46 assists in the wins. And Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) collected a team-best 30 digs.
The Panthers out-killed, out-dug, and out-blocked opponents this weekend. Today alone, they forced teams to hit in the negative while allowing just 36 points across six sets.
BSC hits the road next. They take on East Texas Baptist and LaGrange College on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Millsaps Invitational, before heading out to the Colorado College Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo. the following weekend.
